About the Course

Visual Communication and Design (JMC:2030) is an introduction to visual communication design through lectures and hands-on projects. Students learn key professional production skills, technical aspects of graphics and graphic design software, and visual communication design skills to create effective layouts and design pieces. Topics include elements and principles of design, visual perception theories, typography, color theory, representation, composition, information design, and ethical and inclusive practices of visual communication design, and how to become more effective visual communicators.

The book cover project was previously completed as part of (JMC:3610) Graphic Design but is now being incorporated in (JMC:2020) Visual Communication and Design.
